My name is Myron Smith. I am 50 and live on a farm west of  LincolnNE.   My
wife Barb and I have one child, Nathan, who is now 14 and is a  freshman at
the Milford NE High School.   I joined AACA in 1981 when first learned of
AACA and wanted to  participate in a national meet that was in Cedar Rapids
Iowa
that year. I have attended at least one meet each  year since.

I am a second generation collector and have been attending marquee meets
since 1968. We are currently also  members of the Model T Ford Club of
America, Early Ford V-8 Club of America as  well as being life members of
the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America and  AACA. I have also belonged to
numerous marquee auto clubs through the years, but with dues becoming more
and  more expensive I have looked for where I get the most bang for my buck
and have  found AACA to be the organization I like best.

I served a number of years ago as a member of the legislative committee  am
currently one of the chairmen of development and support, and am awards
program chairman for the CHIP program.   I am a founding member of the
recently formed Nebraska Region AACA and  was its first president. Barb &
I also founded an antique auto 4-H club for youths. This group is
sponsored by our local  region.

Our collection includes: a Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Studebaker, Rambler and
some Fords, a Cushman Eagle, but is primarily Chevrolets. The oldest
vehicle I have is a ’25 Model  T and the newest ‘vintage’ vehicle  is a
’79 Impala highway patrol car.   I have a particular affinity for ‘59 and
‘66 Chevrolet full size  cars.

We have participated mostly in meets rather than tours as they required
less of my limited vacation time and were less expensive than National
tours. I have some vehicles which I  show and others we drive on tours.
An example of tours we attend is one called Tour Nebraska, which is a 600
mile weekend trip of pre 1978   vehicles.

I am concerned with the ‘graying’ of the hobby. I would like to see AACA
be a stronger  influence in the Central and western parts of the country.
I also am interested in promoting the  hobby as something my son will find
interesting as his dad does.
